Patty Smith, COTA/L
Patty earned her Associate of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from South Oklahoma City Community Junior College (now Oklahoma City Community College) in 1975. Her career began in mental health as she was the first Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to obtain a job at the local psychiatric hospital. After 14 years of experience, she changed directions to take a position at Southern Oklahoma Resource Center to serve people with developmental disabilities. Patty very quickly grew to love the uniqueness and diversity of her clientele. Patty joined TheraFUNction in 1998 to branch out and be able to see clients in their home, school and community settings. Patty has experience in a broad range of areas to include: sensory integration, aquatic therapy, dysphagia and feeding/eating issues, adaptive equipment, architectural home modifications, lymphedema management, sighted guide techniques, and school therapy. Her most recent pursuit was training in Therapeutic ListeningÒ.
Patty has raised her two daughters in Norman with her husband. They are newly proud grandparents. She is an avid OU fan and enjoys tailgating and going to games with her family. Patty also enjoys sewing and camping.
