Jodi Jennings, Clinical Director
Jodi began TheraFUNction, Inc. in 1997 as a therapist-owned company to offer therapy services driven by the client's needs and potential. Jodi built TheraFUNction around the principles of holistic care for children, centered around the family. She currently has a team of therapists, many that have been employed with her for more than ten years, that convey not only expertise in their fields, but compassion and dedication to the children and families that they serve. In 2010, her dream to open a pediatric sensory gym came to fruition. TheraFUNction, Inc. currently has nine therapists providing contract services in schools and homes throughout central and southern Oklahoma and five therapists providing pediatric services in the sensory gym and clinic located in Norman, Oklahoma. TheraFUNction just expanded their sensory gym this year.
Jodi has been an occupational therapist for 16 years and brings a wealth of clinical experience to her work with children and families. Jodi received her Sensory Integrative Therapy Certification from the University of Southern California based on the work of A. Jean Ayres, Ph.D in 2001. Jodi has advanced training in DIR®/Floortime, a developmental relationship based model for treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental delays, as taught by founders Dr. Greenspan and Dr. Weider. Jodi also has specialized training in the following occupational therapy treatments: Therapeutic Listening®, Astronaut Training(vestibular and core strengthening), Handwriting Without Tears®, Loops and Other Groups: A Kinesthetic Writing System, Wilbarger’s Deep Pressure and Proprioceptive Technique, visual motor training, fine motor and praxis development, and the use of Sensory Diets. She has studied with the Upledger Institute since 1999 to specialize in complementary health care for infants and children using CranioSacral Therapy and Lymph Drainage Therapy. Her experience creates a platform of knowledge that allows her to evaluate and individualize a program to best meet each child's needs. She acts as a consultant to schools and the community to train teachers, parents, and professionals on sensory processing, craniosacral therapy, and the benefits of occupational therapy.
Jodi enjoys live music, swimming, nature hikes, traveling, and cooking with her family.
